I need a recipe for a salad for a funeral at our church. It has to feed at least 12 people and it has to be cheap and be very quick to make, like 5-10 minutes. And it has to keep well- overnight because it can't make it the day of.

  • Pea Salad

    Bag of frozen peas

    wet mixture

    1/2 mayo
    1/2 ranch
    cheddar cheese shredded
    diced green onion or just finely diced onion
    bacon bits

  • Just make a taco salad. You can add the chips and lettuce before you leave.

  • Macaroni or potato salad are both cheap and easy, although they're going to take longer than 5-10 minutes.

  • Broccoli Salad

    Bunch broccoli chopped
    Medium onion or 4 green onions chopped fine
    strips of bacon cut fine and fried crisp
    ½ C Raisins (soak in hot water while frying bacon)
    1C Mayonnaise
    2T Vinegar
    ½ C Sugar


    Cut bacon crosswise into ½ inch pieces, fry crisp, drain.
    Soak ½ Cup raisins in hot water while bacon is cooking.
    Cut broccoli into bite sized pieces or smaller.
    Finely chop onions.

    Place broccoli, drained raisins, onion and bacon in a large bowl. In a separate bowl mix mayonnaise, vinegar and sugar together until blended for the dressing. Pour the dressing over broccoli mixture and stir well. Refrigerate 1 hour and serve.

    Chill the dressing separate and pour over salad just before serving. I know it's not the cool whip, or the 5-10 mins you were looking for. When we do this salad for gatherings EVERYONE

  • Make a quick pasta salad. Boil tri-colored rotini, add some sliced cucumbers, chopped bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, and sliced black olives. Toss with zesty italian dressing, refrigerate.

  • I was going to say Chinese chicken salad but I don't think that is cheap or quick to make.

  • chop up everything prior to going, and put it together right before you leave, then add dressing when it is time to serve,
    Bacon Avacado salad,
    10 strips bacon crisped and chopped
    2 tomatos diced
    2 green onions
    2 large avacodos diced (cut these before you leave and put a bit of lemon juice on them)
    1 cup croutons
    2 large lettuce heads chopped
    Mix with green goddess dressing, and it taste wonderful.

  • Caesar salad with croutons and parm.. maybe even chicken. Just dress it a few minutes before serving.

  • Not a lettuce salad please. Gross as it is I was thinking something cool whip based as the lady who passed loved cool whip.
