Temperamental Toaster

My toaster is ten or eleven years ol, but up till recently it has worked fine. Now it's starting to get really inconsistent. One time the toast will be barely warm, the next burned to a state of total crunchiness. Is there anything that would cause this, or should I just suck it up and get a new one?

  • Buy a new one ASAP. That's how many kitchen fires happen with the toaster. Could be the wiring is shot.

  • Toasters are cheap. You can get one for $10 versus all the money you could be wasting on burnt food or a potential fire hazard. Goodwill stores might even sell them for cheaper.

  • You might have a short in the wiring That is the only thing I can think of and it would probably be cheaper to buy a new one than repair it. If DH is handy or just curious he could open it and take a look and it could be an easy fix. Ifnot then nothing would be lost if you were going to replace it.
