Any odd little habits or tips

that you've picked up from otherwise unmemorable things?

From The Manhattan Project, I learned to poke a hole in the bottom of a can before opening it to get the contents to slide right out after you open it (solid things like cranberries or dogfood)

From Sweet Liberty, I learned to get the stem out of a head of lettuce by slamming it stem-first on the counter, instead of trying to get it out with a knife.

Don't think I've watched either movie since the 80's, but I still do both of those things.

  • I have learned all kinds of survival techniques from watching shows w/ my husb. I sure hope if we are ever stuck in that kind of situation that he paid close attention. I don't know how much I'd remember! :p

  • Lol, that reminds me of the time my sister tried to do that with a head of cabbage. Hehehe...you probably wouldn't believe me if I told you, she was valedictorian of her class.
