Eye problem

My daughter got poked in the eye and said it hurts her to keep it open. Would I call her regular dr. Or an eye dr?

Any helpful tips to help her out until I can get her into the doctors?

  • Can she see out of it? Is it swollen, red, bruised, or anything? You need an eye doctor, but if it isn't an emergency, put a patch on it, and make her rest, some ice might help as well.

  • I'd try to get an eye doctor to see her, and if that didn't work do an urgent care clinic or ER.

  • She can see out of it. She just squints because keeping it open hurts. It's not swollen or bruised.

  • A cold cloth over it, perhaps.

  • I'd definitely recommend an eye doctor only because it's possible that she's scratched the cornea. That makes things more painful and a little more prone to infection.

  • I hope you took her to a eye dr it sounds like a scratched cornea. G/L

  • Probably a scratched cornea. I'd see an optometrist first about it and go from there.

I had that happen last spring...DD's fingernail went right between my eye and the eyelid and...OMG did that sucker HURT! Found out later it was a scratched cornea. It still bothers me sometimes...not sure if I have a scar or if it's all in my head though.
