Questions about due date.

Say i conceived yesterday, April 2nd 2013. I went online and found a few due date calculators that go by conception, i put in april 2nd, it gave me an estimated due date, and said you are 2 weeks along. How so? Wouldn't i only be a day? I'm so confused. And since i can't find an answer of the internet, could anyone give me an estimated due date?

  • You are two weeks along because doctors date you by your last menstrual period and that is typically two weeks BEFORE you actually conceive. The estimated due date they are giving is correct. You are due 38 weeks from April 2nd. So when someone says they are 4 weeks pregnant they have really only been pregnant for 2 weeks, but it has been 4 weeks since their last menstrual period. Average length of pregnancy is 36-40 weeks from conception but because it is hard to know when conception occured dcotors base due dates on the fact that on average women have 28 day cycles and ovulate 14 days after the last menstrual period started. They can get an accurate date from most women on when the last menstrual period started and estimate a due date from 38-42 weeks after that. Make sense?

  • No woman is exactly same. You can literally ovulate from 1 day after your period ends, right up to 1 day before your next period is due,so they estimate that by the time you miss a period, you're already 1 month pregnant, but in actuality, you're 1-3 weeks along
