What is the difference in kids size 6 & 6x?

I'm buying jeans online & my Son went from 4T to boys size 5 in about three months. Now I'm buying the next size just to have for when he needs them. So what is the difference between 6 & 6x in kids pants? Thanks!

  • They're wider in the waist and thigh

  • I always wore "x"' s when I was a kid- I thought they were extra length for tall kids. And I did NOT need wider, that's for sure!

  • 6X is the step between 6 and 7. It's like a half size. Why they do it here and at no other size, I have no idea.

My daughter is moving out of 6/6X and into 7's.

  • They seem to be just a tad bit bigger in the waist and length. DD is in a solid 6 the 6X are big on her.
