  • Both, new and used. The books he will never read again I either send to the library or give to my nephews who are younger. There are some books that I have had since I was a kid and I won't get rid of them, and some that I am just hanging onto because I want to.

  • since my dd is older, I move her old books to my ds's room when she out grows them and update hers with books from the book fair. I haven't bough any used books. not saying I never would, just never have. when ds out grows them i'll donate them

  • We donate her older stuff. We buy a lot of historical and musical books off Amazon. For the fun stuff, we use the public library.

  • We buy new and used. When we need to thin out our bookshelves we donate.

  • I buy a few books here and there, mostly new because I read braille and need books that have both braille and print with pictures. When my daughter outgrows books, if they aren't shredded from use as some are, I pass them along to braille-reading mothers with younger kids. I've started getting some books without braille now because my boyfriend can read aloud as well, and soon our daughter will be reading on her own. I'll probably still buy braille books as she gets older, though, so we can read together. There's also a national lending library that sends children's print/braille books in the mail.

  • There are a few authors where we just order new books as they come out. I also comb through the used kids' books at the library, because they're often 50 cents each and buy one get one free. When I get one for a quarter and it's not a hit, I don't mind at all.

  • old books get passed down or packed away. We get books both new and used. I am not picky. We just love books!
