How can I get mashed potatoes out of my keyboard?

Hubby and I were eating steak and mashed potatoes on the couch (dumb I know, our table is being used for other things at the moment). I set my wireless keyboard down in its normal spot, below the arm of the couch. Hubby knocked his steak knife, covered in mashed potatoes, off his plate and it smacked the arrow keys of my keyboard.

I tried a paper towel to wipe it all off with, but just managed to smear it all into the cracks and crevices between the keys.

NOW how do I clean up this mess?

  • Let it dry a bit then vacuum it out with a brush attachment.

  • You can usually pull the keys out to clean, and they will pop right back on.

  • Yeah, I tried popping the keys off, but this one won't do that.

  • Ok then, Paulie's idea is good. Or you can use a hair dryer on hot to dry it out and then blast it out with canned air.

  • Do you use the air spray to clean out your keyboard? You could let it dry then blow it out.

  • Sometimes yes. I THINK we have a can somewhere. I know we used to have one.

  • You can take a credit card and slide it between the rows of keys to loosen the stubborn bits.
