Why is Chris Brown saying he's sorry?

I don't get this type of admission--I'm sorry, but I'm not admitting nor taking responsbility for anything? It drives me crazy. This happens all the time with celebrities, politicians, and the occasional socio-path. Wouldn't it have been better if he's just reamined quiet? Why say anything at all?

  • I'm pretty sure he's under a LOT of pressure. After all, Jay-Z is Rihanna's sponsor. As for what he said, you know that's all worked out with publicists. I suppose they figured a little was better than nothing, as they wait for him to go away. What a mess, though.

  • If you read his statement he says that he is seeking both treatment and counseling for himself and his actions. Saying I'm sorry doesn't make it any better but it does admit that he knows he has an issue and must fix it. Like the PP said what he stated to the press is monitored by his PR firm and dictated what he can and can't say. He also can not publicly sit there and say "yes I'm a woman beater" because that would further hinder is legal issues and I'm sure his attorney has advised him to not admit guilt in any form.

  • I think he doesn't want to lose any more sponsors, but that's just my cynical opinion. What a loser.

  • Because radio stations pulled his songs. He should have just kept his mouth shut, I think he did more damage to his image by his statement. To me he may has well of said, I'm sorry, I did nothing wrong but just for you,my fans, I will seek help. Whatever. He beat his girlfriend!! He is sorry, he's a sorry SOB. He also said that everyone will see her true colors. If she was such a bitch, he should have broken up with her. They weren't married, didn't have kids, there were no ties. If he was unhappy, he could have dumped her. I AM NOT SAYING SHE IS A BITCH, OR THAT SHE DID ANYTHING BAD AT ALL! He is making excuses for being an abusive POS. And I don't think his appology will keep him from losing more sponsors. Famous people don't seem to be getting a slap on the wrist so much anymore. He screwed himself.

  • Well personally i feel he should have kept his mouth shut he is enough enough trouble as it is and i seriously doubt he will ever dig himself outta this hole. DO i think he was wrong absoulety and he should take his consquences, Do i think he can turn his life around yes because he has the means, but only he can choose to do that so we shall see! As for WHY he isn't in jail, there are men  who are women beater out on the street every day they only get slaps on the wrist, it is  just not publicized like Chris Brown so why should his penalties be more harsh because he is a celebrity!
