  • Cow's milk isn't nutritionally balanced for babies the way formula or human breastmilk is. It's not recommended to give babies any cow's milk till after the first year.

  • Yes, and don't give him honey or anything made with honey either.

  • Louise, the mashed up adult food was fine and indeed preferable to jarred foods. But check out the NIH info.

  • Way too young. Info from the National Instititutes of Health:

"Early introduction of whole cow’s milk may lead to iron deficiency anemia. From a nutritional point of view, it is best to delay the introduction of whole cow’s milk until the infant is one year old. While there is no evidence to suggest adverse clinical sequelae associated with the increased renal solute load in healthy infants, feeding with whole cow’s milk would narrow the margin of safety in situations that may lead to dehydration. Early exposure to cow’s milk proteins increases the risk of developing allergy to milk proteins. "

  • Yes! Formula for one year, then whole milk.

  • Yes. His tummy and guts are not developed enough to properly digest cow's milk.

  • I guess I am the only one who is going to say. No not to young. Both my grown DD started on regular milk at 6 months old. They were eating mashed up adult food by 6 to 8 months. If I had to raise a baby right now I would do the same thing.

  • Yes, entirely too young

  • Yes much too young. He needs the nutrition found only in formula or breastmilk.
