Do you wash your child's hair every night or insist they do?

I wash my 5 year olds every night. She is a dirt magnet, no joke. My mother swears it is bad and she only needs it washed once per week. ( for those that know, my mother is a tad bit nutty). She even goes as far as telling her not to allow me to wash it unless it's Sunday.

So how often did you or do you insist on their hair being washed?

  • Every over day. Sometimes more sometimes less. I am sure as weather gets hotter will will have to go to every night for a while. She is a sweater...

  • Daily washing destroys your hair. I don't see any reason to intentionally turn my child's head into a rat's nest.

  • Now that its warmer my son washes his own hair every night cause he sweats a lot, but when its not hot, he will wash his hair every other day. In the summer he likes to have his hair shaved off.

  • we do every other night unless they get into something dirty. Some times every 3rd night in the winter so as not to dry out their skin.... But, like I said, if they are actually dirty they take a shower no matter what day.

  • Every other day,if possible. Any more and she's itchy. Obviously her hair gets washed after a day at the beach etc. no matter what. Once a week would not be enough. :/

  • Np, it's around 110 here during the summer so her hair is a sweaty mess. How often do you suggest?

  • Depends on what is going on. Baseball season it is pretty much everyday because he can't seem to keep the dirt on the field and out of his hair. Other than that every other day unless it needs to be washed.

  • I actually do only insist my DD wash her hair once a week. She doesn't produce enough oil to need it more than that. But she has to get it rinsed out if there's food in it.

  • Every 2-3 nights unless its needed more often.
