Am I hearing this correctly?

The gun bill was defeated in the Democrat-run Senate, and now Biden says Obama has several Executive Orders lined up to sign into effect later this week, all dealing with guns. So he is just going to circumvent the whole system? Is this legal or Constitutional? I feel like I'm missing something here.

  • It is not legal, but when has that mattered lately? The only time Executive Orders are supposed to be used is when Congress is not in session, and there is some kind of an emergency.

  • Probably not legal or constitutional, but that doesn't seem to matter to him. It hasn't so far.

As far as what you are missing, I would guess real leadership would be at the top of the list. It's number 1 on mine.

  • When has it ever mattered? This is not a new thing Obama started doing. Just look it up.

  • And this is one of the many reasons I don't care for the man as president.

  • Yes it's legal and constitutional as an act. If the content is unconstitutional the SCOTUS will slap his hand, just like they did to FDR when he got pissed and tried to overthrow the SCOTUS by doubling it in size and adding only people who liked him.

  • It may be legal but does anyone actually think it will make a difference? Those who already have their guns are not going to tamely turn them over, register them, etc. They are their property. He will just turn inocent people into criminals.

  • If you can't get what you want democratically, via the will of the voters, you slip in through the back door. Obama seems to be good at that, although he hardly has the corner on the market. Politicians seem to think they know what's best for us all, and if they can't get us to agree to it, they'll just have to shove it down our throats or sneak it into our lives when we're shaken up by tragedy and not paying close attention.

  • There were items that had to be passed by Congress, there were items for executive order. DIFFERENT items, not the same ground to be covered, and that hasn't been a secret. That was announced months ago.
