Have you taken him to the vet to see if he has a chip in him? Do you think his owner could be looking for him?

Most infant pets have colds the first year of their life. However, they do need medication at the same time. Some veterinarians located inside pet stores offer a free consultation: http://www.banfield.com/landing/index.html
It will most likely need the cold medications first before it can have any preventative shots. Lysine is a nutritional supplement typically given to help them. You can buy it for cheaper via online stores instead of getting it from the vet but be sure to get the prescription note to take home since some stores require you to have it to order some medications. Also recommend you get Pet-A-Lyte made for pets to keep them hydrated.

If you can't afford a vet visit, contact several animal rescue shelters and most give reduced prices. You can also search for "help with pet medical expenses" to find groups that give grants to have the expenses paid.
