Would the name Gemma get confused with Jenna or Emma too much?

Also which spelling Jemma or Gemma I have seen it spelled both ways.

  • I wouldn't think so.

  • I have a Gemma (spelled with a G, which is the traditional spelling). Jemma will be confused with Jenna. The only time my DD is called "Emma" is when someone said her name and they couldn't hear well or weren't paying attention. The only problem I sometimes encounter are people who idiotically pronounce it wrong. Instead of Gem-ah, they'll say Gim-mah (like Gimme). It's annoying but, I'm in TX so, I think that's part of it. They get it after I say "like a gem".

  • Gemma is a lovely olde worlde name. no way would I confuse it with either of the other two and I wouldn't spoil it by trying to modernize it with a "J" - that would just make it banal ... JMO
