The bill will go through. There really isn't any reason for it not to - it's a question of equality and the French are BIG on equality. The presentation alone is going that way - it's not "gay marriage" it's "marriage pour tous" (marriage for everyone).
Yes, there's a lot of protestation (most of the protesters don't head for Paris under their own steam, they're bussed in free by religious and political groups) but it's more of an illusion - the protesters make a heck of a lot of noise. And the violence that has been associated with their demonstrations has NOT done their cause any good. A lof of people hadn't really thought of it as a case of intolerance until this kind of thing happened. You don't want to be considered intolerant here in France ...
The point that the French may not be ready to accept is the one about adoption for gay couples. IMO, it's just a question of time.
