Does anybody have a child that gets cold sores? If so how old were they when they started getting them

  • Mine does not but cold sores are a virus(a form of a herpes virus) so they can get them at any age after they have been exposed to the virus.

  • My sister had them from the time she ate tomatoes- so around age one or so. They are a virus, but different triggers can set them off.

  • I haven't but went through a time when I used to get them. L-Lysine is an amino acid that can help. If they are a child, I don't know what dose would be appropriate, but if taken daily for a year, they are unlikely to come back. Here is a link I found that had good info.

  • My little girl doesn't get them, at least not yet. I started getting them around the second grade or so as a kid.

  • My oldest son got them as a toddler. We put tea tree oil on them which I have been told stings but he never fussed at all
