WWYD? Names ...

One of my daughters has recently decided that she now wishes to be known as SnowWhite ... Well, it was amusing in the beginning but it's gone too far. She now no longer responds when called by her real name. I don't think anyone has called her Snow White at all. She will respond to "Princess" - lol

What would you do? Humour her? Call her by her own name? Suggestions please.

  • How old is she? When I was 3 yrs old, I wanted to be called by a different name. My dad ended up using reverse psychology on me. After a while of using my selected name, he told me that he was sad because he'd never get to call me by my pretty given name again. I then told him that I wanted my name back.

  • I would call her Snow White. It will pass and you will look back on it and laugh.

  • Humor her, it's great to have an imagination.

  • Call her snow white. It won't hurt anything. So many people have nicknames. Not a big deal.

  • Oh she has Down's, oh just call her Snow White if it makes her happy for now.

  • Call her Snow White till she gets tired of it. What will it hurt? My five-year-old recently told me she wanted a different name. So I used it for a few hours, and she decided she'd rather have her old name back. Even if it lasts days or weeks, or if it sticks as a nickname and goes on indefinitely, it's not really harming anything.

  • Now see. I was giving you an answer to a normal child. Why didn't you tell us the whole story. Some times I wonder!angry

  • This will not be a popular way. But this is what I would do.  I would do several things.

I would call her, by her name.  If she did not answer. I would either go and grab her by her are and give her a little shake, pop her/thump her on the back of the head, or pop her on her ass.  Tell she started answering me when she called.
