Dinner plans have changed! Need some ideas...

We are going over to my Sil and Bil's house. They were suppose to make steaks and baked potatoes and I was bringing a cheesecake. My SIL has a late meeting so she changed it to hot dogs and chips. The cheesecake was going to cost $40 so I will be making something instead. I need ideas for dessert and a dip to go along with the chips.

  • Go buy a tub of ice cream and some store bought dip. She's being cheap with dinner I would too. Truthfully, I would bow out of dinner if it was like that.

  • $40 cheesecake? What's in it, gold flecks? I would really like the recipe, never had a fancy cheese cake before!

You could always make a cheaper cheese cake? Cookies, Brownies, fruit kabobs, strawberry shortcakes.

  • Take shredded cheddar and jack cheese and mix with pace picante sauce, serve with tortilla chips.

For desert I would buy an apple pie and bring some ice cream and serve pie al a mode.

  • Maybe salsa and guacamole for the chips if you want to add something a bit healthful to the meal, and sliced strawberries and cream or a pie from the store.
