Moving to the east coast.

Does anyone know where there is a nice city on the outskirts of NYC or Boston that's affordable to rent.
Where looking for a nice house in a decent size town that has a homie feel to it.

So far we're looking at new haven Connecticut. Has anyone been there or know anything about it?
Don't really want to be more than an hour and a half out from the city because of work.

Thank you

  • Do you plan on working in NYC? If so you have to consider traffic. New haven may be 1-1/2 hour away but with traffic it more like 3.

  • I would be driving my husband off at the closest bus or train.

    Afforable, like a 3 bedroom around 1500.

  • What's your price range and where are you, or whoever, working?? South Shore area in MA is nice... but not if you work in NYC!!

  • I would say $1500 for a 3 bedroom on the East coast is wishful thinking.

  • Even in Chicago it's wishful thinking by a long shot

  • You have to be more specific about what city your DH is working in and how often he will have to commute. New Haven is a city between NYC and Boston, but not practical for a regular commute to either, even by train.
