Could you still care for someone if you hated everything they stood for?

Could you be friends with a woman who tolerated her husband cheating on her, beating her, treating her like she was dog shit on his shoe, and taught his sons to do the same to their S/O's?

  • Nope. I'd probably do my best to motivate her to leave, and if she didn't soon wise-up, I just could not be friends with her anymore.

  • You can care about them but still distance yourself.

  • I would care, but I would find it difficult to remain friends with them after a certain amount of time has passed and I can clearly see that they are not nor will not do anything to try to change their situation.

  • I would really have a hard time staying friends with someone who wouldn't do anything to improve her situation, especially if she complained about it a lot.

  • Yes.

  • No. Trying to maintain a friendship with someone who obviously feels they are a victim requires more energy than I'm willing to invest

  • it is hard enough for me to stay friends with people that are constantly on/off again with their SO's/spouses every time i turn around but they keep taking them back and putting up with their crap. my respect for them wanes each time they run back to them.

  • Care about? Yes, as in what happens to them and the desire to see them become better persons. Want to be anywhere near or have them be an example for anyone about whom I care? No way!

  • Yes I would still care for her, think about her alot, but would limit communication with her cause it would be too problematic to deal with her. But still let her know when she is ready to leave, I am there for her.
