Would you sign for yr 16 yr old to get a tat?

Or would you make them wait till they are old enough to get it themselves. My dh wanted one. I told her I would sign for her but her dad wouldnt agree. Do you need both parents sig? I am gonna respect my hubbys wishes but I dont know alot about getting tats as I have never had one done so anyway what do you moms think?

  • Yep. My daughter has her first tat picked out and is counting down the days until her birthday. She is a cutter, and I made her a deal. Every six months without cutting she gets a piercing, and if she made it to her 16th I'd buy her a tat. It has given her something to focus on in those tough moments when she feels the need. She's done an amazing job working through it with her therapist, and she's earned that ink.

  • No. And no reputable artist would touch a kid under 18 without consent.

  • Nope. They can wait until 18 and even then I hope they won't do it.

  • NO!

  • Definitely not if it was someone's name, and not for anything in a place where it would be visible. I wouldn't be jazzed about it even if it was in an invisible spot, but I might do it if it was in memory of someone who had died or something like that.

  • No, if you really want it, you can wait until you're 18.

  • No.. she might want it now but later on she might not like it. Shes too young to make a decision like that.

  • We told our daughter she had to wait until 18. She actually had her first done about 2 months before her 18th birthday, but I knew about it. She is/was a really good kid and she told me she wanted to do one rebellious thing and had been wanting a tat for at least a couple years.
I would not sign. Tattoos are forever and I think 16 is too young.

  • No, I would not. And I can assure you that Dad wouldn't either.
