What does "ratchet" mean. The slang form.

A relative of mine uses a lot of slang. I can't interpret half of her statuses on Facebook because they are filled with things like "wud" instead of "would" words with extra letters in them. For example, where I would say "its hot outside today",She would say "man!!! It's effin hawt out side. For realzzzz #stayinInsideee

Anyway...she tagged someone I knew in a status saying "dumb b%#ch is ratchettt" what does that mean,
Clearly it's negative but does that mean dirty or what?

  • From asking my 13yr old daughter, it means ghetto, or lame if you grew up in the 90's.

  • You know you're old when slang starts coming out that you never heard of before. I was no longer a teenager in the nineties; maybe that's why the word is so foreign to me.

  • I thought at first maybe it was an odd overemphasized way of saying wretched. I'm 24 and I have no clue what the meaning is of most things she says. Starting to give me a headache might have to hit the old unfriend button soon.
