How do you get the smell of cigarette smoke out of a couch?

My MIL gave us a leather couch and it smells like smoke so bad! How do i fix it?

  • I know vodka can get it out of clothes but I'm not sure about leather.

  • It's very difficult to get a cigarette smoke smell out of anything that's upholstered, but maybe the leather kept the smell in the filling to a minimum, and washing the leather (with an appropriate leather cleaner) will help.

  • Best thing to do is useing leather cleaner on the leather. It might help.

  • I cant set it outside we barely got it thru the door the first time.. I have been opening the windows all day but its pretty cold here. What is an ozone machine?

  • white vinegar... It will stink like vinegar for a while but will eventually go away.. you can try rubbing alcohol too..

  • It's almost impossible to get the smell of cigarette smoke out, you can try the things above, but it's almost impossible, especially if they smoked in the room where the sofa was for a very long time.

  • While you are cleaning it do not forget to clean the underside of the couch.
    I would not use anything not made for cleaning leather. Vinegar will tend to dry out the leather.
