Sick of infections!!!!

When does it stop?!?!?!? We thought that after removing DS's ear tubes, placing new ones, and removing his adenoids that the infections would stop. Well, the ear infections stopped, but 3 days after the surgery he got a sinus infection! The doc decided to put him on a long course of a strong antibiotic, since he has chronic infections, but seriously. Will there ever be a time when we go more than a few weeks without another infection of some sort?

Has anyone else been through this? He has basically had an infection every 3ish weeks for the last 8 months. He is only 17 months!

  • try finding some probiotics - liquid is great for little ones. That should help strengthen his immune system loads!

  • If I remember correctly, you are living abroad right? Maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe his immune system (which stems from yours) is not familiar with the different strains of bacteria there. Could it be the water? New air filters or is there mold where you are living anywhere inside? I am no expert & I am sure you just can't up & move but I'd be thinking these things may have a hand in his infections. Hope he is better & grows out of it very soon. :(

  • Does anyone around you smoke? Wouldn't have to be in your home directly, all it would take is one neighbor who shares a wall or two, or who smokes outside near your ventilation systems.

  • No, he gets filtered water, and he was fine for the first 6 months that we lived here, plus his sister has only been sick twice here. They are starting to think he might have an immune deficiency. If he gets anymore infections in the next few months we are going to have an immunodeficiency work up on him. Just wondering if there were any moms on here with some advice, who have been through this, or are going through this.
