Can I use the remaining balance on my SNAP card after i go back to work

I sent in a paper saying I dont need food stamps anymore but they didnt close my account yet. I live and NY and wanted to know if I will get in trouble

  • You can use what you have on your card now, but it will close at the end of the month.
    If they have a website to check status of the case you can report changes this way and it may get to a caseworker faster than mailing or calling it in.

  • I'd use it up. You may be going back to work but sometime that little boost can help you really get on your feet.

  • Yes. It was your allotment for the month. You are entitled to use it all. It should also remain on your card for 6 months before it disappears. Check the website to be sure. I think you can save it and use it later if that helps.
