Do we need a false reporting fine for people who report an "active shooter" any time they get paranoid?

First there were the idiots who freaked out over people dressed as Iron Man characters at a theater last week. Now there's this:

For those prone to skimming - a 6 year old's toy bb gun sold at the Texas Ranger Museum (which is a STATE agency), and security had already stopped and looked at it, seeing the very obvious bright orange plastic cap.

This is getting to be like that stretch after 9/11 (ironic, considering where this one happened), when idiot suburbanites would call the police if they heard someone speaking Arabic at a restaurant.

  • I think people who don't know anything about guns and are against others having them are more prone to paranoia when it comes to them anymore.

  • Wow, that article was just, wow. So the security guard asks him if it is a cap gun, he says yes and the security guard still calls the police? How the hell does that work? And once the police had the gun and could see that is was obviously a toy they still questioned the dad for 2 hours, WTF?! Serious stupidity all around on this one.

  • Common sense... it just doesn't exist anymore. This is where the world goes to shit.... Hmmmm... makes you wonder, doesn't it.

  • Perhaps they are holding the toy to use in " what not to do" training classes?
