  • Of course mammals would, they still need to push out a baby. And, it may not be too pleasant to push an egg out your butt either. LOL

And, yep this is a good point, yet another strike against the bible.

  • ive heard that they do, but its not the same level as humans. but the reason for why we hurt so much more during childbirth is scientifically explainable. before we walked upright the womb was at an angle similar to animals and so we just kinda pooped them out. but since we started walking upright and spending so much of our time sitting our pelvises have had to make adjustments. the bones have to spread apart a bit when we give birth...its why many women's hips are permanently larger after giving birth.

thats the unscientific sounding version, but i can find the proof if needed.

  • I think pain during childbirth is a natural way of life - I think authors of the Garden narrative were attempting to introduce us into the Divine context, as well as offer some kind of "explanation" for why things are they way they are. I don't think any of it is literal or historical-factual. It just tries to address things according to where they were then, at their level of understanding - whether they were trying to be literal or metaphorical can be debated - and because we know better now our explanation is different from theirs.

  • We just witnessed a sheep giving birth yesterday. She was definitely in pain and moaning. It was kind of scary because it was a very difficult birth and the baby was stuck for a while. They thought they were going to lose at least the baby. But both made it.

  • its also why our babies are born so needy. most mammals babies are born and walk shortly after and live on their own within months to a year. but we have to give birth before our babies' brains are fully developed in order for them to fit thru our pelvis.

  • Have you ever seen an animal give birth? Sure they can't say "Mother f*cker pushing out this kid hurts like a bitch" but you can TELL that they are extremely uncomfortable which would indicate some level of pain.
