How accurate do you think bathroom scales are?

I bought one brand new- it just seems to be weighing low. I guess that's a good trait in a scale but accuracy is probably more important. It's just a run of the mill white scale with a flippy dial

  • Mine's pretty accurate, but I'm sure they're not 100%. Next time you go to the doctor weigh yourself right before you go and then compare it with the doctors scale, or put something on the scale that you know the weight of. I don't know lol.

  • I think that scales have differences in calibration. So You can go to the doc and weigh so much, then on your mom's scale it says something different and on your home scale something else. It is best to just have a baseline and always weigh yourself on one scale.

  • Even in the doctor's office different scales give different results.

  • That's true- I figured if I lost any weight it would show up on this scale no matter what number it was saying. I prefer the tape to measure in inches for weight loss though.

I have two 5-lb weights I can test it with. I'm more worried about accuracy with weighing the kids. I'm always wondering how much they weigh.

  • Doctors offices calibrate their scales twice a week.
And those are top notch. A cheap scale is probably
Off by a couple pounds each time you weigh yourself
