How many nutrients does a microwave really take out of food?

I have never thought of that- I microwave a lot of stuff.

Is it really damaging the food?

  • I don't use them just for that reason. I haven't found a "this is exactly how much it destroys", but I've read enough to know I don't want them touching my food at all.

Another thought, if it's advised not to warm breastmilk in the micro, shouldn't we wonder why then do we warm our food in the micro? Obviously it does bad things to the warmed item, but warming them over the stove is fine.

  • No more than cooking something all the way through does.
