Do you add salt?

to your humidifier?
the last question i just answered made me think of this. we have to have one of those things going all the time and i add salt. (i use the vick brand) even though it tells me not too. i tried it their way and the kids seemed to have gotten worse. when i add salt they are up and ready to run the marathon.
what is your thing?

  • Never heard of adding salt either but it makes sense. Acts like a saline solution would.

  • they have or rather had one that said to add salt. it was the worst brand i ever bought. only lasted one month before frying out. that's why i stick to the vicks brand.

yeah the salt helps them breathe at night and the water adds moisture to the dry air.
during the hot summer months, it also helps cool down the rooms for them.

  • Yes.. I add salt. It also helps when the humidifier is clogged, makes it run great.

  • The salt particles in the water make the humidifier work better, bt you don't need to add much or you could corrode the machine.

  • I thought the salt just made it steamier
I had a hot and steamy once (rollers) and that didnt work either without salt
