Who do you like better for financial advice, Dave Ramsey or Suze Orman?

I am thinking Suze has a good idea about paying down the highest interest rate debt first, but I like Dave Ramsey's tough love-get-a-second-job, sell your toys advice too. Which of these two gurus do you like?

  • I like Dave's plan for saving then paying down debt, but I do question how he says forget about your credit score. We rent so we'll need to buy a house at some point, we can't get a loan with a credit score that sucks. Suze annoys the hell out of me but her advice is pretty good.

  • Suze also advises if it is that bad, sell your house, sell your toys..downgrade and stop living beyond your means. Dave Ramsey wants you to go to his seminars, buy his books, cds , dvds and get all your friends and family to do the same. Sorry...not a Ramsey fan.

  • Hmm true, I have noticed a marketing bent to Dave's stuff, but Suze had the "buy TD Ameritrade," thing, and she has seminars too. I guess I don't see the difference? I don't want to join eithers cult following, I'm wondering which one gives better financial advice.

  • lol..okay heres a male point of view. Dh called and I asked him what he thought. It is his opinion that while "Suze gives good, sound advice she is particularly bent on helping women achieve finacial independence." I don't guess it ever occurred to me that she does..but it isn't a bad thing if she does.

  • I would say Dave. Suze does not follow what she preachs and I have a real issue with that.
