Anyone tried Pedia-Lax fiber gummies for a child w/ constipation issues?

The web-site has comments from parents who have had very similar problems w/ their younger kids, & (of course) they all say that w/ in 2 days it starts working to help them be regular & not in pain..... just wondering if anyone uses these for their child & if they work?

  • if your kid is stopped up he/she doesn't need fiber, it thickens up the poop. How old is your kid?

  • She'll be 3 at the end of June. This has been an on going issue w/ her... I thought fiber made you more regular? What about a probiotic? Pedia-Lax has those as well.... we are planning on getting her into the dr. as soon as we can get insurance straightened out, but just wanted to help her out in the mean time...

  • fiber will make her more regular but don't give it while she's constipated. get a soft poo first then start the fiber but only give 0.5 grams of fiber for ever 2 lbs of body weight. Give plenty of water and juice, less milk b/c milk can make constipation worse.

  • I didn't know gummies were available, but I've tried the chewable tablets with some success for my daughter.

  • Have you tried the P diet? Peaches, pears, prunes?

Answer by PartyGalAnne at 2:20 PM on May. 29, 2013

  • Thanks, =) . I try giving her fruit a couple times a day, but have never tried prunes, because she's a picky eater & didn't want to spend the money if she's not going to eat them. I also give her yogurt a lot because she doesn't drink milk....
