Did they get my information wrong?

I picked up my high school transcript, and they put me down as 'Hispanic, white'.
I am Puerto Rican, not white...

2 questions.
Why did they put hispanic white...?
And will this effect anything?

Thank you in advance.

  • I believe Hispanic is your ethnicity, white is your race. Puerto Ricans, I believe, are classified as Hispanic.

  • PS: No, I can't imagine how that would affect anything.

  • The race serves no purpose other than tracking demographics.

  • Hispanic is a matter of heritage, white is a matter of race. There probably wasn't a category for Puerto Rican.

  • Was there an option on there that said Puerto Rican? If not, I'd guess this is what they categorize Puerto Rican under for those purposes. It's usually for classification only, and as long as all your other info is accurate, I wouldn't really worry about it.

  • Is your schedule right? The race/ethnicity thing won't affect you getting into school or your grades. Concentrate on what classes you are taking & try your best. GL
