I'm driving 800 miles with two teen boys, any ideas to keep them from being too bored?

To add to that, we are driving at night, we're leaving Colorado Springs at 8 pm and driving to Chandler, AZ. I know they are not going to sleep, they have been waiting for this trip for months. I don't want to stop too many times, just for gas and bathroom.
So the question is, how can I keep them somewhat occupied, most of the drive, internet wont be available on their phones. I don't want them to drive me nuts.

  • Give them some sharpies and a couple of sketch books. I would also buy a fart machine. They are a riot and right up teenagers alley. They can have fun with it in the car and along any stops too.

  • Whats a fart machine? And where can I get one. The sketch pads I already thought about, but like I said we're driving at night.

  • I know it sounds cheesy, but they can play all those stupid car games you played when you were little. Like Start with A and they have to find a letter on a sign on THEIR side of the road until they get to Z. Or a map game- like find a river, a town with the letter Z in it, a campground, a national park... Stuff like that that not only keeps them occupied, but encourages them to SEE WHATS AROUND THEM! Not a fricking screen like they look at every day.

  • PartyGalAnne, that's a good idea, Them and I have played something like that before on a shorter trip, it was a blast, wonder why I didn't think of that.

  • they don't have their Mp3s...or you don't all enjoy the same music? We usually just talk and have sing alongs!
when they were younger, we took toys, coloring books, handheld games that took batteries...
