We have an 11 year old daughter (foster child) and we need to know wha kind of discipline we can use. We have tried grounding, taking away privliges, and nothing works. Any advice would e appreciated.

  • Have you contacted Foster Care for options for counseling?

  • Have you consulted the School Psychologist? I'd start there & see what they can recommend.

  • The biggest thing is to get to the root of the anger issues in counseling. If she's eleven and in foster care, she's probably rightfully angry. That aside, physical activity works well for blowing off anger. Have her do cleaning, organize a closet, something like that. And be sure to build exercise into her routine because that may help her discover more productive ways to let off steam.

  • My foster mom would make us do work. Like spring cleaning kinda stuff. Clean everything, everywhere(even behind the fridge and stove)! Dust everything, wash everything(curtains, blinds, floors, even ceilings). Clean out the basement/attic, yard work. Organize cupboards, etc. You name it, we did it. Even help haul bricks for the new patio(there was a lot of them and took a long time!). And it did work for us.
