  • The very best way to combat depression is to look around you for someone else who is having a really hard time and then to do some act of kindness for that person with no expectation of being repaid. This forces you to get your mind off yourself and on to someone else. I have never failed to have my mood lifted when I have done this!

  • Join the club. This week I'm feeling the same way. I just burst into tears an hour ago. Sometimes you just have to cry ;( Hope you feel better soon.

  • What's the source of your depression? What's going on?

  • Keep yourself busy. Find things to do so you can't dwell on the deployment.

  • Get out in the fresh air. Learn to dance or play the piano or decorate cakes, whatever floats your boat. Volunteer somewhere. And like NannyB said, do random acts of kindness.

  • Your a Navy wife! Get use to it. I was an Army wife for 20 years. You better learn how to do it alone, that is everything. Unless you are like a lot of wife's. they go running home to their parents every time the DH deploys.
