Basil pesto recipe?

i have a lot of fresh basil and i really want to make a homemade pesto- BUT im out of pine nuts. is there any way around that?

  • Wait until you at least have a nice olive oil. Vegetable oil will not taste good. You can find recipes with other nuts, walnuts come to mind. Have a decent romano or parmesean cheese as well.

  • You can sub walnuts, but the olive oil is a must.

  • When you have your pesto made, brown some ground sausage and toss the pesto in with that and and some boiled rotini, with a little parmesan sprinkled on top! It's one of my favorite dishes!

    Just remember- if one person eats pesto, you must ALL eat pesto so as not to kill each other with your breath!

    Pesto is also nice in wraps!!

  • I've always left the pine nuts out and just used basil, olive oil and parm cheese.
