Why do Hispanic dolls cost more than Caucasian dolls?

My daughter wants a baby doll that looks similar to her (American Girl dolls are out, they cost too much...so we went to WaMart looking. She found one she liked but it was $10 more than the white one just like it b/c the box said Hispanic..wtf?! We are white but my dd has dark brown wavy hair and dark hazel green eyes....They don't make baby dolls that look like that unless you get a Hispanic one. It's stupid.

  • How about Walmart online? Did you check the price there?

  • Probably because less of the Hispanic dolls are made and therefore they cost more to make. That, and gimmick marketing.

  • Forget Walmart and shop Amazon. Prices are always better.

  • Go to another Walmart. I go to two & the prices vary on the same item. I bought a sports bra at one for $13 & then went to another & the same bra was $9.

  • I wasn't aware they were. I guess because they might not make many of them. Supply / demand.

  • did you check the actual prices or was this what the price signs said? at my Walmart things are always shelved wrong, so it might be possible that it just looked like the Hispanic doll cost more.
