2 Bumps

No budget GROCERY store meal

lets say you're given a limitless budget for a single nummy meal from your local store. Not a specialty shop or the Whole Foods 45 minutes away but the random average place you buy your sprinkle cheese and your hotdog buns.

What is available? IE my store does not have a butcher on site w/ fresh fish and lobster (sad!) What do you pick from what is readily available? IE no special orders, etc

No budget, luxury yummy, whats your menu?

  • Shrimp cocktail, grilled filet, sea scallops, and asparagus, and twice baked potatoes. Some of my favorite things that my husband makes.

  • I shop at Kroger (about 2 miles from my house) and they have everything you can think of- fresh sushi, butcher cut steaks, organic food, etc.

  • Oh yeah, go with fancy dessert!
I was going to say super nice salad with all the goodies in it including hearts of palm or artichoke hearts. Nice pasta dish with the good sauce, garlic bread and white wine.
Steak, rice pilaf and salad. If the ethnic food section is good, that might be an option.

  • definitely scallops...even if they are just packaged ones. and giant prawn shrimps for shrimp cocktail, they have them in a bag too (tho at my local grocery store they have a specialty meats section that has fresh seafood and id get that). id get the best cut of steak they had available. and asparagus that i would wrap in the thickest bacon. the most expensive cheese they had that i like and a box of crackers that are made to be eaten with cheeses. a big loaf of fresh french bread and a bunch herbs to make fresh herb butter. oh and for dessert id get high end chocolate, melt it down and dip the yummiest fruits into it, raspberries, giant strawberries, mango, and get other yummies like pound cake & marshmallows...basically chocolate fondue.

this question is not good for my diet haha

  • Oh, I'd do a nice fresh salad with spinach and romaine lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, olives, the works. I think right now I'd want a grill meal. Sirloin, medium well, and some shrimp and sausage links. Baked potatoes with everything on them Sweet corn. Fresh rolls and butter. Steamed zucchini and asparagus. And chocolate mint cheesecake for dessert.

  • Cajun Chicken Pasta

Chicken breasts (better yet the already sliced stuff since I don't have to worry about being cheaper!), bell peppers, garlic, onion, angel hair pasta, heavy cream, white wine, chicken broth, cajun spices, shredded parmesan cheese.
