  • You'll find as many "I hate my mother in law" questions here as you'll find "I hate my daughter in law" questions. This is ultimately where they all started. If this isn't a serious relationship, no, you don't have to like her, but if you think it might last, do you really want to trade your son for your pride?

  • What is not to like about her? Sure you can go ahead & not like her & when he marries her make everyone's life a living hell until you die. OR you could just be nice & make everyone happy.

  • Find something about her that you can like.

  • First of all, how old is your son? Is he still living with you?
You do not have to like her. He has to like her.
You just have to put up with her when she is around.
Hope she is not around much.

  • You don't have to like her, but keep your opinions to yourself around him. He will only react negatively to it.

Be civil and nice, and don't give her a reason to speak badly of you.

  • Do you have to actually LIKE her?β€”no. Do you need to be pleasant with her?β€”yes, unless you want to cause problems with your son.

  • Depends on why you don't like her. Is she mistreating your son or is this just a personality clash?

  • You don't have to like anybody. But disliking the girlfriend, or not getting along with her, may cost you your relationship with your son. Only you can decide.
