I had a lateral release knee surgery then fell down 4 steps. I have severe swelling burning and stabbing pain. I don't see orthopaedist for 1 week. Any ideas?

  • Go to the ER, they'll order x-rays most likely to make sure you didn't fudge up your knee again

  • Ice, compression and call your doc in the morning!!! You'll need to see the ortho ASAP so they can see what you've messed up!!

  • oh yeah.... if the pain is too intense for you to take or if the swelling is compromising the circulation to your foot, toes, lower leg or if your calf is so swollen it's shiny please go right to the ER... if not call your ortho in the morning!!

  • You can't afford to wait a week and possibly ruin the surgery. Call your doctor first thing in the morning.
