  • I don't think they focus on grammar or spelling as much anymore. Of course, most classrooms have ipads now. I had blackboards and chalk. Things sure have changed.

  • They're still publishing grammar textbooks. That much I know, but if anybody ever studies the books is a good question.

  • People have gotten too used to the quick txt used for texting and IM's. It' as if Grammar is a lost art, like writing in cursive.

  • i subbed 3rd grade last year and they had a grammar lesson...but it was pretty basic stuff (noun, verb, conjunctions etc). thanks to moving around so much as a kid i never learned how to diagram sentences. i have no clue what a past participle is and i had a really hard time when one of my professors was a stickler for using passive word tense. and honestly, it hasnt done me no harm no grammer are da bomb yo!

they dont teach cursive anymore tho (at least not here). but it seems the kids still pick it up from somewhere cause the middle school kids can still read & write it.
