Cheese fondue

i'm thinking about making cheese fondue with fresh vegetables (i got fresh mushrooms, broccoli, boiled potatoes) and some homemade freshly baked whole wheat bread for dinner tonight. i usually just add store bought salsa in velveeta cheese and serve it with chips. I don't want to do salsa tonight.
Do you guys know any add-ons to go in the cheese that will taste good with the sides ive mentioned above? thanks in advance !! :)

  • 2 tbs butter
    2 tbs flour
    heat until lightly brown
add one can of chicken stock stir until slightly thickened
    add one teaspoon mustard powder
    add shredded cheeses-
    8 oz sharp cheddar
    8 oz swiss
    4 oz gruyere
Stir until it all comes together, keep on low heat while serving.

The best cheese fondue... EVER! Plus it is easy and as long as you make sure your stock is thickening it will make a wonderful creamy fondue.
    Good luck!

  • We never add anything into our cheese... We pick a cheese and then add the milk and flour and either beer or white wine depending on the cheese we chose. My favorite is a 50/50 butterkase and fontina with a dash of blue cheese and a splash of white wine.

  • it actually turned out pretty good. honestly, that was the only cheese i had on hand last night. will try a different kind next time. regardless of the fact, my 3 year old couldn't get enough of fresh broccoli dipped in cheese so score one for mommy !!! no more mashing up the veggies and hiding them in his food !! yayyy :D
