Do you have set times of when you will receive calls?

I have a 10/10 rule.  No calls coming in before 10am or after 10pm.  Unless it's an emergency of course.  Well last nite, my niece's husband thought it'd be OK to call at 10:45 pm to ask my husb. a question that could've waited.  Plus they had just talked 2 hours earlier.  They have kids too, so you'd think he'd get it.  I think it's rude & inconsiderate to call someone that late.  What about you?

  • Oh yes I sure do. Everyone knows not to call me past 9. I turn my cell phone off and I'm usually in the other end of the house where I can't hear the landline.

It's very rude to call late.

  • Anytime for family. But not after 10pm or before 5am for everyone else.

  • No but it pisses me off if someone calls after 10 or before like 9.

  • yes I do no one is to call after 9 PM unless it is an emergency of some kind and not before 9 AM again unless there is an emergency

  • Not really. Anyone who knows me will not call after 8pm or before 7:30a unless it's an emergency. Anyone who doesn't know me probably dialed the wrong number in the first place. I agree that was inconsiderate of him to call back after hours with a non-emergency. Does he know your time set?

  • I expect that any calls before 8 am and after 10 pm are emergencies.

  • No calls after 8:30pm & nothing before 8 am unless it's an emergency.

  • I don't have a "policy" in place, but everyone who knows me knows that if they call me after 9pm, someone better be bleeding, dead, or dying. Same for calling before at least 8 in the morning, preferably 9.

Even during those hours, though, I don't always answer my phone. I look at the caller id, and if I don't recognize the number, I often will just ignore it.

  • no calls during survivor . big brother, or intervention. other than that no calls after 9pm or before 7am unless someone is bleeding to death

  • We don't really have a policy but generally from 7:00 - 10:00 everyone knows we're awake. My biggest is we let the answering machine pick up if we're eating. I really like having family time at supper. I can always hear who leaves the message so if it's an emergency I can always run to pick it up.
