Is it okay to put neosporin and use hydrogen peroxide over stitches?

  • neosporin yes, peroxide I am not sure, call your doctor.

  • NO on the peroxide!!! It kills the leukocytes you need to help heal faster, kills the good skin cells and can create pockets of gass that can get abscess. Soap and water is best unless you are trying to debreed dead/narcotic skin cells!!

  • What did the Dr. say about the care of your stitches? If you lost the instructions, call the office or call your local pharmacist.

  • Call the Dr.'s office and ask if you aren't sure how to care for your stitches / wound.

  • No peroxide. That treatment protocol is gone with the wind. The doctors I work for prefer only dry bandages but each doctor is different. Some still use a wet bandage. As others have stated, your doctor is your best resource for information

  • Neosporin yes, Iodine or Betadine yes, No for peroxide. Double-check with your doctor.
