Am I starting menopause?

My periods, which usually come every 4 weeks, have been a week early the past 2 months. It sucks getting my period every 3 weeks! Am I starting menopause? I'm 48. I've also been struggling more emotionally, but different stressful things have occurred.

Thanks!

  • I never had any period issues. I had my period regularly... and the next month, absolutely nothing. Never had another one. The only other issue I suffered was hot flashes and night sweats.

  • At what age did menopause start for you?

  • My mom had an excess of periods before menopause. Her hormones levels were all wrong. Doc ran a bunch of tests and put her on meds. Around that age.

  • I'm guessing your hormones are all over the place, while your body prepares for this next lovely phase in a woman's life.  I'd bring it up at your next Dr. appt.  In the meantime, read up on it here:

  • I'm only 34, so I'm not there yet, but I've had some period issues. My doctor says that the older we get, periods can start getting all screwy. I would still mention it to your doctor, since they can ask you questions and check things out that may tell them if it's something else going on. Could be menopause, could be stress, could be something else.
