What do you think of this bike?

They are wanting $50 for it. I am trying to find a good bike that I could use on trails and paved walkways.

  • in my area we have a free bike shop
as long as they are open i will never pay for another bike again
do you have one in your area?

buying a bike sight unseen is rough-
is it tall enough for you?
did you know that wide tires mean you have to work harder to maintain momentum?
do all of the gears work?
with those handle bars you cannot comfortably sit erect, will that be a problem for you?
can you comfortably carry the weight (what if you have to hike out of the trail because of a flat)?
    do the brakes work?
are the cables in good repair?

  • Around here that would be a good price. I would insist of test riding it .

  • Feralxat, we have used sporting gear stores but they still cost quite a bit. I will be going tomorrow to meet the person and test the bike. I am new to biking but I have taken a class on repairing a flat tire while out on the trail. I am going to start on a flat paved area and then work up to short trails until I feel comfortable.

  • I don't know much about bikes, but I would guess it's like buying shoes. You need to have a reasonably long test run to see how the bike feels. Still, it's a good price, so it's not like an enormous investment, and you could always resell the bike if you find it isn't the right one for you.

  • Trek is an excellent brand. $50 would be a great price, even if it needs a little maintenance.
