Christian Mingle commercial

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjUz9pGnN9g

that is a link to a lyrics video for the song the use in the commercial *It's called Love Song For A Savior

and here they are written out:

In open fields of wild flowers,
She breathes the air and flies away
She thanks her Jesus for the daisies and the roses
In no simple language
Someday she'll understand the meaning of it all

He's more than the laughter or the stars in the heavens
As close a heartbeat or a song on her lips
Someday she'll trust Him and learn how to see Him
Someday He'll call her and she will come running
And fall in His arms and the tears will fall down and she'll pray,

I want to fall in love with You
I want to fall in love with You
I want to fall in love with You
I want to fall in love with You

Sitting silent wearing Sunday best
The sermon echoes through the walls
A great salvation through it calls to the people
Who stare into nowhere, and can't feel the chains on their souls

He's more than the laughter or the stars in the heavens
As close a heartbeat or a song on our lips
Someday we'll trust Him and learn how to see Him
Someday He'll call us and we will come running
And fall in His arms and the tears will fall down and we'll pray,

I want to fall in love with You
I want to fall in love with You
I want to fall in love with You
I want to fall in love with You

It seems too easy to call you "Savior"
Not close enough to call you "God"
So as I sit and think of words I can mention
To show my devotion

I want to fall in love with You
I want to fall in love with You
I want to fall in love with You
I want to fall in love with You

I want to fall in love with You
I want to fall in love with You
I want to fall in love with You
I want to fall in love with You

(My heart beats for You)

I can't find the one they have been showing all day so I can give a link.  It's the one that has this part of the song

" Someday she'll trust Him and learn how to see Him

Someday He'll call her and she will come running
And fall in His arms and the tears will fall down and she'll pray,

I want to fall in love with You.."

Does it seem somehow...wrong? to take this song and use it the way they do in the commecial- I think this stupid commercial has been on a hundred times the last day or two and for some reason- the use of this song really bugs me and I'm not even Christian!

  • In the interest of fair advertising, I think all their commercials should include a disclaimer about the guy who was using their site to meet and rape women.

Their commercials completely creep me out entirely because of that.  Those lyrics only make it worse.

  • I love how those commercials are always on Adult Swim at 3 am while I'm watching Family Guy and American Dad.
I think they're missing their target audience.

  • I always thought the song was about a couple meeting. Never thought it was like this. I do think it's a bit strange.

  • I know what it is talking about and some Christian (at least) think that God belongs in their relationship with their spouse. It all depends on how you look at things.

  • I think the song itself is odd. "Fall in love" generally refers to romantic feelings, right? Towards God?

But yeah - for the commercial, I'm sure they figure most people won't notice that it's not actually a love song referring to two human beings.

  • I have a friend who hates those commercials too. She is a Christian, and she hates those commercials because they say Chrishan, and don't pronounce the t. It driver her nuts.

  • I never really paid attention to the lyrics of the song before--because those "way too happy to be there" men and women drive me nuts whenever I hear the commercials. But now that you have it all written out, it does seem a little cheap and creepy to use a song about falling in love with your Savior on an ad for a matchmaking site.

  • Someday He'll call her and she will come running Like a nice obedient doggy. And fall in His arms and the tears will fall down and she'll pray,  Slobber all over daddy's face now.  That's a good girl!   Yeah, it offends me too.  Even more so now that I know the full lyrics.

  • No I see nothing wrong with the song in a Christian singles commercial
