Used phone?

Have any of you ever gotten a used one? Or know how it works...
my son's phone is about 4 yrs old and kind of dying- beat to hell and not charging well, and we bought a new battery a few months ago because it wasn't then.
don't want a smart phone or anything

how does it work if you get one? *like do they make you have a service agreement still? do they charge to activate and all that stuff? *I'm sure they probably do... is there anything I should know before I consider getting one? *we have Verizon-if it mattters

  • You should be eligible for a free upgrade after 4 years.

  • Verizon will screw you at every turn, believe me. But I would think the important things to know about a used phone are what the warranty covers and for how long.

yeah -that's true- but free is never actually free ;)
not sure if hubby will want to do another 2 years since son will be 17 in about a week ...
*no he cannot afford his own- it's all he can do right now to get through high school without a job interfering ;)

  • I think with AT&T an upgrade/activation charge is $32.
BUT often times they'll offer you a better deal online than in the store. OR if you call and them them you want to cancel all your phones they'll offer you an upgrade and waive the fee.
