Have you ever grown San Marzano tomatoes?

I have 8 plants that are about 9 feet tal, and they are loaded with tomatoes.

These tomatoes suck! They have no juice in them. None. They are hollow!

Of you've grown them where yours hollow and without juice?

  • They are much better to use for soups and sauces not for eating raw. :)

  • I read they are highly prized for making sauce.

  • I've heard that too. They are awful. Can't imagine how they make a good sauce. I have hundreds of them. Ugh.

  • I haven't grown them, but I've bought them and made spaghetti sauce in the crockpot. Surprisingly, it turned out nicely. I just added a little liquid to begin with--I can't remember but I think it was spicy tomato juice--and the rest of the liquid came out of the tomatoes as they cooked down.

  • Try a sauce!

  • Yes, make a sauce. I only used plum tomatoes for my sauces although I had not read about this particular kind. They make a thick yummy sauce.
